8460 is an early alloy-framed GMT Standard Leyland Atlantean. Its body is similar to later alloy-framed vehicles but with minor
differences including a different upper saloon front handrail.8460 entered service on 1st December 1981 at Rochdale Depot (RE). It operated from this depot until its closure, when it was
transferred to Bury Depot.
8460 was renumbered as 4460 (along with the rest of the 8000 series) after a new radio system had been installed by GM Buses in 1992 and it was decided to renumber
part of the fleet at the same time.
8460 operated from Bury Depot (BY) for several years until it finally moved to Bolton Depot (date unknown) where it remained until withdrawal in January
2001.
