GM Buses Group Acquires 8151 - VBA 151S

8151, the first Atlantean in the 8000 series of GM Standards has now been acquired by the GM Buses Group.

8151 has been supported in preservation by the GM Buses Group since 1999 - indeed the Group was initially formed to support the preservation of newly preserved 8151 and 8551.

It was preserved in 1998 by St.Helens Transport Museum, immediately after withdrawal from service on the day Atherton Depot closed on 7/2/98.

St.Helens Transport Museum is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and a consolidation of the Museum's collection was necessary to ensure a successful future for the project, hence 8151 was made available and successfully tendered for by members of the GM Buses Group.

Further information about the North West Museum of Road Transport (the new name for St.Helens Transport Museum) may be found on their website: www.hallstreetdepot.info. We wish them every success for the future and 8151 will attend their opening event and others which follow.
